Financial data centers rarely have the luxury of trusting environmental control and asset records to a single system. At one high-security facility in Taiwan, the server rooms already ran on established cooling and facility management systems, but the operator still needed a second layer, independent of that system and installable without construction. STH-01 wireless sensors and T20 BLE trackers gave the site that layer, logging environmental drift and server movement as events with an immediate, auditable record.

Problem

One Monitoring System Is Also One Point of Failure

Financial data centers hold environmental stability, asset control, and audit records to a high standard, yet many rooms still depend entirely on the existing cooling or facility management system to report conditions. When that system has a blind spot — an undetected hot spot, a humidity swing, a relocated server — operators are often left without independent evidence of what happened.

Construction, cabling, and any work that raises dust are typically off-limits inside a secure server room, which narrows the options for adding coverage. For a high-security financial facility, the real exposure shows up at audit time: asked whether a specific server was ever moved, or the room ever ran outside safe conditions, a team without an independent, traceable record has no good answer, and accountability becomes hard to pin down.

Solution

Sensing and Tracking Add a Second Layer of Sight

STH-01 wireless temperature and humidity sensors were deployed across the server rooms and critical storage areas, continuously monitoring conditions and raising an alert the moment a reading crosses its threshold. T20 BLE asset trackers were attached to servers and other critical equipment, logging location and movement events as they happen.

Going wireless is what makes this fit a server room's constraints: no cabling, no construction, and no interference with the cooling and facility systems already running. Layered on top of the existing setup, it gives the operator a view that stands apart from that system, filling exactly the gap that used to depend on someone noticing in person.

Audits Start With a Trail, Not From Scratch

Once conditions move outside the safe range, or equipment is moved or repositioned, managers now hear about it earlier, without waiting on the existing system's routine reporting cycle. Server and equipment movement events are captured as they happen, so audits and inventory checks no longer start from a blank page.
