NHR is revisiting a smart parking deployment in North Macedonia that shows how connected parking data can make daily urban mobility more manageable for drivers and operators.
Turning individual spaces into live information
Urban areas in North Macedonia were facing growing pressure on available parking. NHR worked with a local on-street parking management company to deploy sensors that detect whether individual spaces are occupied or vacant. The readings are transmitted to a central system, creating a current view of parking availability for the management team.
Drivers can use a mobile application or website to locate available spaces more easily. For the operator, the same system provides occupancy and usage information across clients, parking areas, zones, and individual spaces, including time-of-use data.
A clearer foundation for parking operations
Centralizing space assignments and utilization records helps the parking team manage its network through one operating view. The project demonstrates how space-level sensing, reliable wireless communication, and a practical management interface can work together without adding unnecessary roadside infrastructure.
The result is a more accessible parking experience for residents and visitors, together with better operational visibility for the local management team.
